  • 3 Day San Francisco Breast Cancer Walk--PLEASE HELP

I've been gone a long time, due to personal issues. I am back and I need your help. On October 2,2009 I will be joining thousands of others in walking 60 miles over a three day span to help raise money for breast cancer research.

Breast cancer is a subject that is close to my heart. When I was a little girl, my nanny or grandma as I called her was 20 years in battling breast cancer. Every time she went to chemo-therapy I was right there with her, I didn't know what was wrong with her at the time, but I went anyways. The cancer clinic became like home to me. As I got older the cancer spread through out her body. At 8 years old I lost my grandmother. I can't begin to tell you the pain that day brought me, but I haven't been the same since. Since that day, I have known exactly what I want to do with my life. Not many kids could say that, and now at 21 I am working hard to become a RN and eventually I want to work in a cancer clinic like the one I grew up in. I love helping people, that is why I decided to do the walk. Just a few years ago, I lost another important person in my life to breast cancer. My mom's best friend Karen was diagnosed and passed away with in the same year.

So here it is, in order to participate in this walk I have to reach a goal of 2300 dollars. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation of  5 dollars? Please keep in mind how far I'm walking - and how hard I'll have to train.

According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, more than 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That’s why I’m walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

    Thank you for your time,

    Kara Hillman

  • What are you currently saving up for?

Currently I'm saving up for a bunch of things-- all of them trips.

    1) Currently saving all of my money for my San Diego trip next week. I finally get to see where my best friend has been living for the last 3 years.

    2) My end of the summer trip to Detroit to see my favorite person!

    3) Next summer I want to go to South Africa to do humanitarian work with my school. It costs about 5000 dollars for 5 weeks. Gotta start saving now.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

  • To Carol...

    Step Mommy-

I never got the chance to tell you thank you for all that you did for me and dad. We never would have made it with out you. You were taken from us way too soon. I still need you Carol, everyday is a struggle with out you. I took so much for granted. Just a little over a week ago I was sitting on the BART train bugging the hell out of you and threatened to take my food. The last two nights I've had the hardest time not walking down the hall to tell you some stupid story. I walk into the kitchen expecting you to be obsessively cleaning because it's never clean enough. Already I am fall apart again because of things Mom has said. Who am I going to go to at 1 am crying? Mommy, you left me too soon. Who am I going to do jig saw puzzles with until 3 am just because we can't stop? And laugh at stupid jokes with? Who's going to ask me "Why do I take you to the grocery store? I know you are just going to ask for something ." Every time we go to the grocery store. Cisco misses you too mom, he looks for you and he refuses to come with me at night unless I bribe him because he'd rather be with you. Who's going to make chicken enchiladas with me? Mommy, when we were at the hospital the only thing I could say was "She can't leave me, I need her." Its still the truth. I don't know what to do with out you. I hope you are with Don, and you can finally sleep peacefully.

    I love and miss you,
    your Daughter Kara

With a kiss on the forehead, and I love you...I hope you sleep well.

  • Scary Chicken Man

A few days ago, as my boyfriend and I were in the car on our way to get nummy food, I look over to the car next to us...

And this is what I see. Bad enough right... Well today I was at school and I was talking to a friend, I look up and *GASP* There it is again. No...I'm not joking. There was a guy walking around in a chicken suit.

Needless to say, this is the stuff of nightmares.
